Lescott

Tomb Raider

It seems that our nemesis, former boss Alex McLeish is keen to reunite with a couple of sweaty socks from our beleaguered squad.

That one of these is the unloved and unwanted Alan Hutton is no surprise whatsoever and we here at Villamad Towers are tempted to believe this one.

The one that is more difficult to get our noggins round is one Barry Bannan, who has been "gracing" the first team of late and hasn't - as is customary - gone out on loan to the Grand Theatre Wolverhampton to appear in panto, though this may be due to their new policy of casting schoolchildren rather than real dwarves.

As for incoming players, rumours are a bit thin ground, though Lambert has his targets and depending on who you believe either has a war chest to bring in new blood or is desperate to sell to raise funds...

Dunne on the Red Bulls, Bent on the comeback trail?

We've not been inundated with Villa Transfer Rumours today, other than (hopefully) scurrilous ones regarding the immediate future of Paul Lambert.

The big one would seem to be with regards to the future of Richard Dunne and a potential big money deal (for him, not the Villa as he's nearly out of contract)  with New York Red Bulls. This would see another hefty earning but non-playing member of the squad off the books, potentially meaning there  would be room in our dressing room for a fully formed pro-defender rather than another one "with potential".

Meanwhile, it would seem that Bent's much-touted departure is heavily dependent on him getting a) fit and the perhaps more difficult b) actually playing before the window slams shut.

As for the rumours on people coming in, the persisent one, that of Jolyon Lescott would seem to be unfounded given that he would command a hefty salary and most of Villa's budget in that regard is being spent on a goalkeeper who can't get in to the team...

More lack of news as we don't get it...
